Reliable journalist names likely next two Liverpool signings

Respected journalist and The Times reporter Tony Barrett has confirmed our strong interest in Ben Chilwell and Piotr Zielinski, tipping the young pair to be our our next two signings following the conclusion of the Sadio Mane deal.

Jurgen Klopp has been extremely busy during this transfer window already, and the German manager has shown no signs of slowing down. He seems determined to get the majority of his signings through the door before pre-season starts, so all his players have plenty of time to gel and learn to work together.

As The Times reports, Sadio Mane is now officially a Liverpool player following his £30m move from Southampton. Barrett believes Chilwell and Zielinski may soon follow, and suggests that Klopp’s search may not end there.

Chilwell is a bit of an unknown, and despite being highly rated at Leicester City you’d be forgiven for knowing very little about him. Unless you’ve watched him for Huddersfield recently – where he spent most of last season on loan – then you’re unlikely to have seen him play, so understandably many fans are questioning whether he’s of the required calibre to play for Liverpool. He does seem like a hugely promising young talent though, and Klopp may be able to get the best out of him.

Zielinski is a slightly more well established name, with the 22-year-old spending the last two seasons on loan from Udinese with mid-table Serie A side Empoli. He too looks like a player with a bright future, and signs suggest Klopp has a long-term blueprint in mind for Liverpool.

Barrett goes on to suggest that we’re still looking at Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud, although with Granit Xhaka already joining Arsenal this summer he believes they will be reluctant to sell another of their key midfielders.

We could definitely be seeing a new-look Liverpool side next season, and if reports are to be believed, it certainly seems like we’re set to see at least another couple of new faces through the door.
