You know it’s a real life transfer rumour when the player in question starts stoking the fires via social media!
Croatian outlet tportal last night claimed Liverpool had already tabled a €15m for Dinamo Zagreb wonderkid Ante Coric…
The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the most talented teenagers in Europe right now, and the report got Reds all over the land excited – exaggerated tenfold by Coric’s behaviour on Instagram…
As soon as the news broke, the attacker, who’s won two caps already, liked a series of photos claiming Jurgen Klopp had contacted him already and that we’d made a concrete offer.
We’d assume by Coric’s behaviour that there’s some genuine interest from ourselves.
However, it certainly doesn’t mean a deal is done. Last summer, Memphis Depay did something similar before joining Manchester United, and in January, Alex Teixeira even liked photoshopped images of himself in the Liverpool kit – before moving to China.
The interest in Coric is also a little strange in that he’s an out and out no.10, a position we’re more than covered in.
Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana can all play here, and Coric is too lightweight (he’s barely 5 ft. 7′) to play in a Premier League midfield double pivot just yet.
Still, we’d much prefer we signed Coric than Piotr Zielinski – the Polish midfielder who’s cost a similar amount but is less highly regarded by those in the know.
