Yes, we know, a mid-July pre-season game against League One opposition isn’t exactly the ideal barometer for judging our young talent.
That said, the comprehensive way in which our young Reds dismantled what is demonstrably a competent professional side was extremely encouraging.
Klopp used two entirely different sides in each half – but of the 22 players involved, only Roberto Firmino, Adam Bogdan, Lucas, Danny Ings, Sadio Mane, Dejan Lovren, Alberto Moreno, Jon Flanagan, Lazar Markovic, and Joel Matip could legitimately be described as “seniors”.

Fans were largely delighted with what they saw. Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter:
The opposition aren't the best but the fact we're playing well and creating chances is a positive. Don't be a mard arse.

Sure Klopp will be extremely happy with that game! The youngsters hugely impressive and great performances from the new signings.

Bright points already in this game? Grujic, Ejaria, Woodburn and Kent for me.

Kent enjoying himself here. Looks dangerous every time he gets the ball.

Woodburn looks a player. Denied by a good save by Cairns after more bright work from Kent.

Really glad with the team performance today especially from the young chap Ben Woodburn. #LFC #LFCtour 1/2

Lazar Markovic not looking like a player with a point to prove. Ryan Kent much better.

Ryan Kent is 20 y/o this year. Brilliant play on the right flank. Perhaps we can see more of his action this upcoming season

@LFC Ryan Kent was outstanding! Two assist. ?

Ejaria is a big talent….strong physical fellow and gets his head up, with the talent to pick out the correct pass. Some nice through balls
