Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media in the aftermath of our 5-0 win against Fleetwood Town this evening.

A first half strike from Marko Grujic gave us a 1-0 advantage at the break, before a second half brace from Roberto Firmino and further strikes from Ben Woodburn and Lucas Leiva saw us cruise to a routine win.

Klopp admitted he’d hoped for more in the first half, but was pleased to see Marko Grujic turn in such a fine performance:

“In the first half I was not too happy with the performance. We are the better team, have the better players – but we should not only be able to get through with the pace of [Sadio] Mane,” he said.

“We scored a few goals, nice goals, well deserved. It was ok, and we go on. We have to learn. That’s why we train hard and play. You can’t decide when to switch off the machine. If we celebrate a clean sheet against a League One team, then something is wrong. If we conceded a goal tonight, not a problem.

He also quipped about players fitness – perhaps giving a sign of what he will expect during the season:

“Marko first game for us, first goal – nice. I’m happy for all the boys. They are wearing Liverpool shirts because they’re all good. That little voice in your head that says ‘I’m tired’, you have to tell it to shut up.”
