Image: Sakho reveals new shirt number & sends message to fans

Mamadou Sakho has adopted a new shirt number ahead of the 2016/17 campaign, swapping his old No.17 for the No.3 shirt vacated by Jose Enrique. As it’s a fairly late change, by way of apology the Frenchman has offered all fans who already have the new kit with the No.17 on it the opportunity to get their shirts signed (via the Mirror).

All the fans need to do to get their shirts signed is send it to the club in a stamped and self-addressed envelope, so Sakho can sign it and send it back to them.

Unfortunately we won’t get to see the 26-year-old in either shirt any time soon, as the ankle injury he’s picked up will see him miss the start of the campaign (via the Mirror).

Sakho has really become a fan favourite recently, and despite a few bumps along the way in his Liverpool career he has quickly elevated himself to the point where he is arguably our best central defender. It’s a huge loss to be without him, but hopefully we can cope fine, get off to a great start, and be even stronger when he returns from injury.
