Inter Milan could re-sign Balotelli, despite his double move to bitter rivals AC

Mario Balotelli’s next transfer move was never going to be a boring one, was it?

The forward is surplus to requirements at Liverpool, with manager Jurgen Klopp letting the Italian know he should strive to find a new club. The German hasn’t taken him on pre-season tour of America either, so it’s fair to say Balotelli’s Anfield career is 100% over.

But with the attacker’s extravagant wages and one year to run on his contract, finding a potential suitor has proven difficult. talkSPORT reckon the forward could remarkably rejoin Inter Milan, the club where he made his name between 2007 and 2010.

This seems strange to an English fan as Inter are city rivals with AC Milan, the club Balotelli left Manchester City for in 2013 and then again last summer from us. In Italy though, it’s not that bizarre for a player to represent both Milanese sides – Clarence Seedorf, Andrea Pirlo, Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Hernan Crespo and Christian Vieiri to name but a few – but not as many have gone to their original club having crossed the city…

Still, a bigger question would be why Inter would want Balotelli, whose stock has fallen enormously, when they currently have the likes Mauro Icardi and Stevan Jovetic vying for spots – but if they’re willing to provide him a lifeline (especially permanently) who are we to argue…

Inter though are managed by Roberto Mancini, and we seem to remember the feisty boss falling out with Balotelli on countless occasions while at City. Would he put himself through that again?
