Real Madrid star linked with surprise Liverpool switch

In the latest installment of questionable transfers weekly, Jurgen Klopp is apparently interested in bringing Real Madrid’s Jese Rodriguez to Anfield, according to reports in Spain (via the Echo).

The Spanish forward is apparently looking to secure first-team football this season, and doesn’t believe he’ll get that at Real Madrid. The report suggests the La Liga giants are hoping to secure a loan move for the 23-year-old, but that we want to land him permanently.

We’ve already made a number of signings this summer, and while there are still a couple of areas that need strengthening, the forward line isn’t one of them. Klopp has a plethora of options up front already, so to bring in Jese Rodriguez would be pretty redundant.

The young forward arguably wouldn’t even get any more first team football at Anfield than he would at the Santiago Bernabeu anyway, as we have plenty of quality in the forward areas.

If we really are looking at bringing Rodriguez to the club, then we’re apparently going to have to see off competition from a number of other clubs. Arsenal are reportedly trying to sign him too (via the Echo), and with their limited attacking options they could probably actually use him.

This whole report is pretty questionable and we really can’t see it happening, but we’ll have to wait and see.
