Liverpool today announced via the official website that teenage winger Harry Wilson has been awarded a new contract.
The 19-year-old hasn’t travelled to America, unlike Ovie Ejaria, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Shamal George, so most fans assumed his stock had fallen and his old deal would be left to run out.
However, Liverpool have now tied Wilson down for the foreseeable future. The left-footer became Wales’ youngest ever player in 2013, making an appearance aged just 16, but he’s not yet fulfilled the hype that surrounded him during his early years.

He’s still an important part of Michael Beale’s Under-23 squad though, and it’ll be interesting to see whether he’s kept at Liverpool for the campaign or sent down the leagues on-loan.
Last term, Wilson spent half the season with Crewe Alexander, but didn’t set the world alight during his seven appearances. Now Jurgen Klopp has inserted the 75% playing time clause into all his loanee’s loan deals, any potential suitor would have to make the teenager a first-team regular.
Wilson can play on either flank and possesses a wicked left-foot – very dangerous from outside the area and on set-pieces.
