Burnley are one of the Premier League new boys after winning the Championship last term.

Flanno has spent the last couple of weeks weighing up the move, but appears to have been sold on the idea of regular first-team football. After his injury-hit nightmare of the last 24 months, it’s probably the correct decision.

Klopp remains insistent the local lad features in his long-term plans; he only signed a new three-year deal in the spring.

Flannagan’s debut is likely to be on the opening day of the season against Swansea City at Turf Moor. His new club then face us in the second game of the campaign, but he will not be able to play due to Premier League rules.

His departure now leaves us woefully under-staffed at full-back… Surely we will dip into the market again before the end of the transfer window?
