Liverpool fans have been talking about Jon Flanagan’s loan move on Twitter.
The likeable local lad – nicknamed the Scouse Cafu – has joined Premier League new boys Burnley for the season as he bids to regain form and fitness after his injury nightmare.
It’s not so much the move itself that’s riled up fans — most seem to agree that a season on regular first-team football is exactly what the 23-year-old needs to get his career back on track. Rather, it is how short the move has left us at full-back.

We’ve been linked with numerous left-backs throughout the summer, but so far none of them have put pen to paper. Klopp’s even suggested James Milner could be the solution.

I just cried my eyes out for a minute before I realised that @jon_flan93 to Burnley is a loan, not a transfer.

@LFC @jon_flan93 @BurnleyOfficial unbelievable we are short of full backs and this lad would bleed for LFC. What is going on?
