Lucas Leiva will not be signing for Galatasaray this summer.
After being given a 24-hour ultimatum by the Turkish side earlier in the day, the club’s sporting director has now admitted defeat.
According to the Echo, he said they would look elsewhere:
“We are no longer pursuing Lucas Leiva, we will continue efforts to sign alternative names instead,” said Levent Nazifoglu.
It’s thought that Klopp would be happy to sanction a Lucas transfer, but only if he’s happy with the options he still has available to him. It’s unclear whether or not that criteria is being met at the moment – especially given our mini injury crisis.
