Klopp hilariously questions the intelligence of the human race

Jurgen Klopp has openly wondered about why people enjoy listening to football managers’ thoughts so much, saying it makes him question the intelligence of the human race.

He made the comments in an interview with German magazine, Stern (cited on Guardian).

“A football manager is listened to in a way that actually makes you wonder about the intelligence of the human race”, joked our boss.

“I recently met a famous brain surgeon in New York and in his brain, when it comes to intelligence, there are definitely 80% more light bulbs alight than in mine. But what happens? He started to stutter because he is crazy about football and this person from LFC was suddenly standing in front of him.”

Klopp famously was scheduled to be the subject of a “Klopp Cam” for our game at Dortmund last season, but he threatened the TV network with a boycott and they were forced to shelf their plans (via ESPN).

The German went on the express how happy he was to be Liverpool manager, and admitted he wouldn’t mind if he retired having only managed three clubs.

“I asked myself, ‘Where do I still want to work?’ rather than ‘What do I still want to win?’ and couldn’t think of many places. Do I want another club in Germany? No. In England? No. In Asia, Russia or the United Arab Emirates? No, no, no,” he said.

“And then I thought that I am already at the right club and why should I worry about how long I am here for. If I am at the end of my career has managed only three clubs, then at least they were great clubs.”

We are the third club of the German’s career – he previously spent seven years as the boss of Mainz and then a further seven years at Dortmund.
