Loris Karius injury progressing well – keeper set for September return

Posted by

Loris Karius is eyeing a return to action in September – sooner than first planned.

According to the Echo, our medical staff are delighted with how quickly his broken hand is healing.

He broke it in a pre-season game with Chelsea after a clash with Dejan Lovren. He was originally ruled out for 8-10 weeks – giving him a return date of mid-October – but it now looks like he’ll be back next month.

In a fortnight he will have the metal wire removed from his hand and then he will be able to resume shot-stopping.

Barring any unforeseen complications, he should be available for selection after the mid-September international break.

Whether or not he will be able to get straight back into the starting eleven remains to be seen. Mignolet was decent at Arsenal on Saturday, and a serious of strong performances between now and Karius’ return could see him cement his place.
