Main Stand naming rights set to be sold – FSG “having conversations”

Posted by

Liverpool will sell the naming rights for the newly redeveloped Main Stand.

Tom Werner, Liverpool Chairman, confirmed to news today in an interview with the Echo.

He claimed conversations had taken place, but at the moment they were still some way from a deal.

“We’ve had a lot of interest in it but there’s nothing at the moment, just conversations,” Werner said.

“It will obviously give us more revenue to put into other portions of the club.”

He also said that FSG were delighted with the final structure, which will bag us an extra £25 million per season in matchday ticket revenues.

“There were a lot of missteps before we came in. There was a lot of scepticism when we talked about our plan we intended to execute.

“I couldn’t be more delighted. The people who have seen it talk about what a real improvement it is.”

There was a lot of talk about leaving Anfield and building a new ground, but Werner said that he and FSG only ever wanted what was best for the club.

“I am extremely proud of what’s been achieved. When we first came in there was a lot of uncertainty over whether to remain at Anfield or not.

“It was always going to be about doing what was in the best interests of the club. We listened to our supporters, we listened to our partners, we listened to the official supporters committee,” he said.

The first home game of the season will be against Leicester on September 10th.
