Wijnaldum promises lessons will be learned after shambolic Burnley loss

New signing Gini Wijnaldum has promised Liverpool will learn their lessons after a poor display in our 2-0 loss to Burnley yesterday.

Sam Vokes opened the scoring inside two minutes and Andre Gray added the second a few minutes before the break.

“They play differently to Arsenal, with lots of long balls and trying to win the second ball. We made two mistakes and they scored two goals and we didn’t create any big chances. That was the story in the first half,” said the Dutch international (via official site).

Wijnaldum has played both league games so far, but will probably be given a break as we face Burton Albion in the League Cup second round on Tuesday night.

“We expected to create better chances than we did,” he admitted.

“Every game I try to learn because every game is different. I’d be happier if I could learn from games we win, but from games you lose you learn more.

“We must move on to the next game and not make the same mistakes we made today, and look forward with confidence.”

Next up in the league is another testing trip to North London for a game against one of last season’s title contenders, Spurs.
