Palermo make last ditch effort to convince Balotelli with sweet-talking statement

Mario Balotelli is weighing up offers from FC Sion, Nice, and Palermo as his drawn-out Anfield exit saga finally looks to be nearing a conclusion.

With the deadline now only 48 hours away, it’s starting to go down to the wire, so Palermo sporting director Daniele Faggiano has decided to step in to try and convince the striker to make the switch to the Serie A minnows.

“We think that Palermo could be just the right place for him to relaunch his career,” he said (cited on Echo, via Mediaset)

“We would welcome him like a great champion, who with the talent he has got could get back into the national team.

“The only obstacle is his salary, but his desire could shift the balance in Palermo’s favour. We’re waiting for his decision.”

Balotelli was born in Palermo and Faggiano want to take him home, but as he alluded to, his salary could be difficult.

He is on £90,000 per week at Liverpool, and although it’s not been said, surely it seems unlikely that we’d want to subsidize it?
