Nice President appears to have badly misjudged Mario Balotelli with his latest quotes

If you’ve just signed one of the game’s most well-known (if not exactly prolific) strikers, it’s perfectly understandable that you want to offer him a series of platitudes to help him settle into his new surroundings.

That’s exactly what Nice president, Jean-Pierre Rivere, has been doing today after snapping up Mario Balotelli on a free transfer on deadline day.

However, it seems like he’s badly misjudged the way the tearaway forward thinks and behaves. Just read what he said:

“We hope that at Nice, in a family-like atmosphere, he will find the real pleasure of playing the game.

“We know him and he knows us. Nothing will come easy but with his desire and hopefully with the support of our fans, we will allow him to flourish and his talent will come to the service of the team.”

Since when has being in “family atmosphere” ever appealed to big-shot Balotelli? And why has yet another club decided that they can be the ones to finally make him settle down?

To us, it seems like Mario might like the fact Nice is only a few miles from Cannes, St Tropez, and Monaco rather than the club’s family environment!
