(Images) The countdown continues: Murals being added to new Main Stand ahead of Anfield opening

Iconic images, memories, and moments from our glorious past are being added to the main concourses in the new Main Stand.

The grand public unveiling is now just seven days away, with next weekend’s home game against Premier League champions Leicester City set to be the first senior match played out in front of the new construction.

Unsurprisingly, the Liverpool Echo features prominently, but there are also old photos of fans inside Anfield from as long ago as the 1930s.

We couldn’t see any pictures of Gerrard’s Olympiakos “Oh you beauty” moment or the Istanbul triumph, but we are sure they are in there somewhere!

The new stand increases Anfield’s capacity to just under 55,000 and it will be the largest single stand in the United Kingdom.

Are you going to the game? Where are you sitting? Make sure you take some snaps and send them in so we can all enjoy the historic day.
