Liverpool coach reveals his unique new nickname for “unbelievable” Zeljko Buvac

Liverpool coach Pepijn Lijnders says that the knowledge of our assistant manager, Zeljko Buvac, is “something special”.

Lijnders, who was already at the club before the arrival of Klopp last autumn, has been so impressed with what he has seen that he has come up with a new nickname for the Bosnian Serb – “The Computer”.

It’s a step on from Klopp’s current nickname for his number two: “The Brain”!

“The boss called him a coaching book. I call him a coaching computer – unbelievable,” Lijnders said (via official site).

“I am doing the pro licence in Wales but I feel that this is the pro licence plus, plus! It’s his knowledge about the past.”

Lijnders then went on to compare him to some of the game’s greatest minds, suggesting that was he has seen from Buvac eclipses them all.

“I had the privilege to work at PSV with [Guus] Hiddink and [Ronald] Koeman, at Porto with Andre Villas-Boas, Vitor Pereira and Jesualdo [Ferreira], and then here with Brendan [Rodgers] of course.

“But this is something special.”

Buvac and Klopp have been inseparable for years. They played together at Mainz 05 in the 1990s and moved into coaching together when they hung up their boots.

Since then, they have been a manager/assistant manager double act at Mainz, Dortmund, and now with ourselves.

And here is a fun fact: did you know Buvac is also the manager of Republika Srpska (a non-affiliated Bosnian team) at the same time as being our number two?!
