Liverpool bid for Mattia De Sciglio this summer but had their advances rejected

We bid for AC Milan left-back Mattia De Sciglio this summer, but the Italian side rejected our advances.

According to Italian TV station Sport Mediaset, both ourselves and Napoli made offers. AC Milan did not want to sell him, and are even now offering him an extension to his contract which expires in 2018.

De Sciglio is a local lad for the Italian side. He was born in the city and has risen through their ranks to the first team.

He is only 23-years-old but has already made 85 league appearances for the Rossoneri as well as picking up 27 caps for the Italian national side.

The news will once again call into question how happy Klopp is with our current left-back, Alberto Moreno. In public he has supported him, but Milner has been deployed at full-back twice already this season after Moreno endured a shocking game against Arsenal in the first game of the season.
