Liverpool vs Chelsea team news: Emre Can still absent but important defender set to return

Posted by

Emre Can will still not be fit enough to play when we visit Chelsea on Friday night.

We have seen Can just once in the league so far this season when he came on as a late sub against Arsenal on the opening day. He then picked up a knock in our League Cup game against Burton, and we have not seen him since.

In his press conference today, Klopp suggested Can was still not ready. He said the German was no longer injured, but he needed to find fitness before he could be considered for selection.

“Emre’s not injured anymore, that’s good, but he needs to train, that’s how it is,” said the boss (Echo).

There was brighter news for Dejan Lovren. He had to sit out of last weekend’s home clash with Leicester after picking up an eye injury in training. He was replaced by Brazilian who, with the exception of his error for Vardy’s goal, turned in a magnificent performance.

“The players involved in the last game are until now all ready again plus Dejan (Lovren),” added Klopp.
