A screamer from Jordan Henderson followed Dejan Lovren’s well taken opener to give us a substantial 2-0 lead at half-time after a 45 minutes in which we completely dominated.
Chelsea came back into the game in the second, but in truth, didn’t have too many chances to equalise, and if it wasn’t for a Courtois wonder-save late on, Divock Origi would have been gloss on the scoreline…

“We didn’t start well. First half we didn’t have the duels, we didn’t have the second ball, everything was for them,” said the Belgian, reported in the Metro.
“They pressured us and we couldn’t cope with it. It was very hard and we gave two goals away.
“The second half was a bit better, we scored and had some pressure but I don’t think we had a big chance.
“The first goal was a set-piece that they took quick, everybody ran to the first ball and they ran to the second ball, put a good cross in and it was a good goal.
“Everyone was a bit shocked, we didn’t start well and then they scored the second when we didn’t defend well.”
We enjoyed a wonderful period against Arsenal, beat a defensively poor Leicester City well, but to do Chelsea at Stamford Bridge was probably out best overall performance of the campaign.
It’s Derby on Tuesday; a game in which Jurgen Klopp might choose to shuffle his pack, before we take on Hull City in the Premier League next weekend. Another three points is the minimum expectation.
