Fan opinion: Liverpool supporters must keep feet on the ground…

Liverpool recorded another impressive win on Friday night by winning 2-1 away at Chelsea. The win moved us up to fourth in the Premier League and our league position is all the more remarkable considering the tough start to the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have been away from home in four of our first five fixtures this term and our only home game was against Premier League champions Leicester City.

Away games at Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and Burnley have seen the Reds take seven points from a possible 12, with only the defeat to Burnley spoiling a very good start to the term.

The run of results has encouraged Liverpool supporters to raise hopes for the rest of the season; and it’s very easy to get carried away, having played so many big boys already…

But Liverpool have produced good results against the ‘big’ teams ever since Klopp took charge. It’s the ‘easy’ ones where we struggle! The Burnley defeat was a stark reminder of our inconsistency.

Liverpool need to beat teams like Burnley if we are to challenge for honours this season, and next week’s home fixture against Hull City is a must win game after such a good start.

It’s great to see Liverpool playing so well and recording some great results – but we can’t get too carried away.

Now, it’s about proving we can turn up and beat sides who set out defensively, especially if our attack isn’t firing on all cylinders.

Top teams win these games. Now we must do so as well.
