Sadio Mane has been named as the PFA Player of the Month for August and September (official site).

The poll is conducted via SkySports website and is open to fans of every Premier League club.

He took the honours ahead of Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne in second and Etienne Capoue of Watford in third. Diego Costa, Michail Antonio, and Curtis Davies rounded out the top six.

Mane was a £35 million summer signing from Southampton, following in the footsteps of Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, and Rickie Lambert who have all made the jump to Anfield in recent seasons.

Since putting pen to paper, he has started five league games and scored three goals. He missed the game against Burnley with a shoulder injury.

He’s arguably the first name on the teamsheet at the moment. He direct style and electric pace have give the side a new dimension that has been sorely missing for the last couple of season.
