The shortlist for the Golden Boy 2016 has been released, and a Liverpool youngster is yet again in the running…

The award is given to the world’s best Under-21 footballer and has previously been collected by the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Paul Pogba.

In 2014, Raheem Sterling, then owned by Liverpool, won, and this year Marko Grujic is in the list of 40 candidates.

You can choose your ‘Golden Boy 2016’, via TuttoSport, here.

The shortlist also includes Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Tottenham’s Dele Alli, Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi, Manchester City duo Leroy Sane and Kelechi Iheanacho and a host of big name European youngsters.

Borussia Dortmund’s sensational winger Ousmane Dembele, Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman and prodigal AC Milan keeper Donnarumma are also included.

Currently, Rashford is in the lead, with Anthony Martial winning the award last term.

Grujic is unlikely to be up there due to his participation in the Serbian league and the fact he’s a sub for Liverpool, but any help from our fanbase will go a long way!
