The Englishman was discussing his former club’s tough run of fixtures, with the arch-enemy heading to Anfield in a few weeks’ time. Scholes had claimed he’d take a point, not something he would have admitted during United’s heyday.

“Liverpool look like a team that can win the league. It’s a big test for United to go there. They’d take a draw,” he told Jake Humphrey and Michael Owen after the game.

“I was a little bit worried about them defensively… But with that attacking quality they’re showing they look like they can score goals against anybody.”

It’s been impossible to ignore how Liverpool have dismantled some excellent sides this term in such ruthless fashion so far. But the reality is we’re six games into the Premier League season and are five points off top placed Manchester City.
