Reds defender in awe of attacking teammates

Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne has praised his talented attacking teammates for the excitement they are bringing to side.

The right-back touched on the very skill and technique that makes watching Liverpool’s forwards all the more entertaining at the moment.

He told the Daily Mail: “I often watch our attacking players and think wow.”

“You have to admire it. Firmino’s touch, Coutinho jinking around, Mane taking on players, Lallana doing Cruyff turns.”

“It’s good to watch. I see it all the time at the training ground and you think wow, we’ve got a really good team here. The fans love it and my friends who come to the games are loving it.”

Clyne himself must also take credit for contributing to Liverpool’s attacking play.

The former Southampton man has quietly but very effectively gone about his business so far this campaign, offering Jurgen Klopp’s men a different dimension in the form of much needed width and the crosses he is putting into the box.

He poses as one of Liverpool’s more solid performers so far this season and is thriving under the feel-good atmosphere that his manager is creating.

He said: “He makes us believe we can win every match. He makes us believe we will work harder than our opponents, play better than our opponents — that’s what he does.”

“We all know our jobs and it’s paying off. He has us bouncing. Everyone is enjoying it, everyone is buzzing around the place.”

The Reds star is playing with plenty of confidence and is benefiting from the team’s work ethic that gives him the freedom to fly down the right hand side, knowing his position will be covered and that he will always have options when on the ball.

Let’s hope Clyne can carry this form into the rest of the season as well as improving our defensive performances in the process.
