Coutinho and Firmino both major doubts for Premier League game after Brazil call-up

Does anyone still care about international football?! Were the two recent England games really worth the risk of injuries and forgoing a weekend of Premier League action?

No chance.

And if you needed further convincing that they’re a blight on the domestic calendar — consider this bombshell:

According to the Echo, both Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are now major doubts for our game against Southampton after their recent Brazil call-up.

That’s because they will fly to Brazil ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Argentina on November 10th, then travel on to Peru for another qualifier on November 15th.

They will report back to Melwood on Thursday, only 24 hours before we travel to the south coast for the Premier League encounter.

Even more frustrating is that Firmino might not even see action. While Coutinho has now established himself as a Brazil regular, Roberto only saw 15 minutes during the last international break, despite a 6,000-mile trip.
