The most unlikely player ever congratulates Luis Suarez on Golden Shoe award

Posted by

Luis Suarez has been given the Golden Shoe award this year after his free-scoring season at Barcelona.

Praise has been flowing in from all corners of the football world — but there is one player who you might really, really not expect to have offered his congrats.

But who?

Perhaps Otman Bakkal, who he bit during a league game for Ajax? Nope.

Branislav Ivanović, who he bit in a game against Chelsea? Wrong again.

Ok – Giorgio Chiellini, who he bit during the 2014 World Cup? Still no.

Instead, it’s ex-Man Utd left-back Patrice Evra.

Suarez was accused of racially abusing Evra during a league match at Anfield in 2011. The Uruguayan was found guilty, banned for eight games, and fined £40,000 for the incident.

The controversy refused to go away the following season when Suarez refused to shake hands with the Frenchman in the match at Old Trafford.

“Only love and never hate!!!” tweeted Evra. “Luis, you’re a great player, the best number 9 Congratulations Luis @ luissuarez9 I love this game !!!” (Echo)
