Steven Gerrard’s LA Galaxy career is officially over

There were murmurings on Friday when Gerrard posted a thank you note to Galaxy supporters, but the news is now official — Steven Gerrard will be leaving the LA Galaxy at the end of the season.

According to the Echo, he is currently one of the club’s “designated players”. It means he can earn more money than the league’s tight wage caps would normally allow. He currently earns $6.2million per year.

However, the club are planning to bring in two new designated players in the off-season, thus bumping Gerrard and Robbie Keane out of the slots.

It is not clear whether Gerrard will hang up his boots for good, but all the signs suggest he will. Gerrard’s wife Alex and their children have now permanently returned to the family home in Merseyside, with Stevie himself meeting Klopp and spending time in the city last month.

Will he back at the club in January? It’s looking increasingly likely…
