Klopp makes bold prediction for Danny Ings

Jurgen Klopp gave an interesting press-conference today ahead of Liverpool’s tie with Watford on Sunday evening.

The Reds host Walter Mazzarri’s Hornets knowing a win will keep us top of the table at the very minimum, but many of the questions asked at Melwood had nothing to do with the game.

Michael Edwards, Liverpool’s newly appointed Sporting Director was a primary topic, as was unlucky forward Danny Ings – who’s been cruelly struck down with a knee injury that rules him out for his second successive campaign.

According to Klopp, who hadn’t given a fit Ings one minute of Premier League football so far this campaign, the Englishman definitely has a future as a red.

“From yesterday on it’s already a positive story because the surgery was successful and rehab has started. We will wait for him and give him all the time he needs,” Klopp began, cited in the Echo.

“It’s not a nice story but it’s an important story. Everyone who knows Ingsy likes him.”

“Danny will be back and will be a Liverpool player 100%,

“He was very, very close to the team in the last few weeks. Everything will be good at the end but now it’s time to work on the comeback.”

So according to Klopp, Ings was close to being given a start before his injury… We believe that should have been the case considering the striker’s blistering form in the Under-23s, but it was no surprise to see him out of the side when Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi also can’t get in the team.

Klopp’s suggestion that Ings’ long-term future is in red is also bold, but we hope that’s a great motivation for the player on his comeback trail. If he does eventually make a success of his Liverpool career it would be one of the greatest stories of player revival in the history of the club.
