Coutinho’s response to Marcelo’s tap-up is legendary

Liverpool fans are naturally worried when Coutinho and Roberto Firmino head to South America for international duty, and not just because of injuries they might pick up…

Another concern is that the world-class footballers of Barcelona and Real Madrid who also represent Brazil will get in their ears and persuade them that the grass is greener in sunny Spain.

Neymar especially doesn’t hide how much he wants to play with Coutinho at Barca, but following our no.1o’s wonder-goal v Argentina, Real Madrid’s Marcelo got involved – asking Coutinho if he could see a future at the Bernabeu.

Brilliantly though, Coutinho rebutted the question, stating his desire to continue working under Liverpool’s manager.

“[Jurgen] Klopp gives me confidence, I feel at home,” said the 24-year-old, according to arguably the world’s best left-back.

Klopp has undeniably been fantastic for Coutinho. In the year since the German’s appointment, the playmaker has ridden himself of inconsistencies and established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.

Already this term he’s registered five goals and five assists. Hopefully he’ll get through tonight’s Brazil game with Peru unscathed and return to Merseyside in full health.
