Bad news Liverpool fans.. Daniel Sturridge is injured again

Daniel Sturridge had a good chance of starting today against Sunderland, with Jurgen Klopp indicating he was going to shuffle his pack (Echo), but unfortunately, our striker has a minor calf strain and is unavailable.

With Adam Lallana out with a groin injury, Sturridge was likely to be used in the front-three, with Coutinho dropping back to cover the Englishman, but Paul Joyce has confirmed that won’t happen now.

As it stands, Jurgen Klopp has two options: He can either use Emre Can and Gini Wijnaldum either side of Jordan Henderson – or use Coutinho in Lallana’s natural role and deploy young Belgian Divock Origi alongside Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane up top.

We’d love to see Origi get a run out. The youngster has barely had a sniff in the Premier League this term, but oozes talent and deserves more minutes.

We’re sad for Sturridge, but hope that Origi takes the opportunity (if presented) with open hands.
