There was a lot of controversy surrounding Mike Dean’s appointment to referee the Merseyside Derby last night, but bar his failure to send off Ross Barkley, we think he did a pretty good job on the whole.
He’s from the Wirral, so has never refereed a match between Liverpool and Everton before, but didn’t seem overawed by the occasion in what was a feisty affair at Goodison Park.
Two moments though have made us laugh, as they’re typical of the charismatic official!
First he pulled off the ‘No-look Yellow card’ on Barkley – although he really should have been giving the Everton man a ‘stare-down Red’!
Then, he dummied the ball during one of our attacks, which was befitting of any of our talented forwards!
Never change, Mike.
