7 goal, 7 assists Reds star to be offered lucrative contract as Liverpool look to fend off interest from title rival

Keeping our best players is just as important as recruiting fresh faces when it comes to this month’s transfer window.

Liverpool look to be doing just that with reports suggesting that the club are preparing an impressive new contract for midfielder Adam Lallana after his incredible rise to form under Jurgen Klopp. This seemingly comes in response to Tottenham’s interest in the England star.

Neil Fissler from the Sunday Express has reported: “Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to reunite with Lallana, 28, who he managed at Southampton who sold him to Liverpool for £25 million in 2014.”

“He still has two more years left to run on his £60,000 a week deal and is set to be given parity with highest earners James Milner and Daniel Sturridge.”

“The pair pick up around £120,000 a week and Lallana is set to earn the same when he puts pen to paper on his new deal to stop him from moving to Tottenham.”

Now, that is some pay rise. There is no way Klopp will let Lallana leave given the season he is having, especially to another title contender.

He has thrived in his deeper midfield role and has the provided the goals and assists to prove this. £25 million for his services seemed a stretch when assessing his early Anfield career but he has certainly justified that fee this season.

Lallana is playing his best football in a Liverpool shirt as well as an England shirt and will be going nowhere as this team mounts a serious title challenge in the second half of the season.
