Harry Redknapp’s shock prediction on where Liverpool will finish is rejected by Steven Gerrard

Having Steven Gerrard as a pundit on BT Sport is not only good for how interesting his outlook on the game is but also because we have someone to stick up for Liverpool.

On this occasion, the former Reds skipper has jumped to his old team’s defence after Harry Redknapp made a surprise prediction as to where Liverpool will finish in the Premier League this season.

Speaking after yesterday’s 3-2 defeat to Swansea, Redknapp told BT Sport: “I do look at that top six and I do see them finishing sixth. I just think the other teams are stronger. I think Tottenham will finish above them. I think Arsenal will finish above them.”

“It’s between Liverpool, Man United, Man City who makes that top four. I think the three London teams will finish first, second and third.”

Gerrard was quick to have his say, replying: “I’ll go top four. I don’t agree. I think Liverpool have had a bad day today. It’s a poor performance and over the 90 minutes they probably deserved to be beaten because they didn’t show enough at all but the big picture for Liverpool is very positive.”

We’re with you, Stevie.

Perhaps we would be able to understand Redknapp’s prediction more easily if he were to offer some substance to his argument but he didn’t so as it is, we completely disagree.

One difficult period isn’t going to stop us from believing we can earn a Champions League spot.

Our record against fellow title challengers has been impressive so far and we see no reason why we can’t keep our place in the top four until the end of the season.

We have a manager in Jurgen Klopp who will go out of his way to rally a group of players who possess the talent capable of punishing any team. There is no point in settling or even giving up at this stage of the campaign.

We go again.
