Liverpool could spend £17m before deadline on unknown Danish left-back

Would a shiny new multi-million transfer ease the pain of January?

Probably not, but it gives us something to think about with six days left of the winter transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail‘s Simon Jones (about as reliable as that paper gets), we’re interested in Real Betis defender Riza Durmisi, who plays for Denmark at international level.

According to the report, the former Brondby fullback has a £17m release-clause and because he’s been so excellent this campaign, Liverpool are considering taking advantage of it.

Betis are in 13th, but the 23-year-old has a sweet left-foot and is cultured enough to occasionally play in central midfield.

But Jurgen Klopp and the reliable Liverpool correspondents have repeated time and time again that we’re unlikely to do any business this month – especially at left-back – where with James Milner and Alberto Moreno, we’re fairly well covered.

Perhaps we’ll focus on a new player for this role in the summer, if Moreno grows tired of his bench role, but for now it’s likely to stay the same.
