Liverpool reportedly planning on selling 59-goal forward this summer

This is by no means the kind of news we were wanting to read but it is perhaps something we could have expected to hear at some point this season.

Reports have suggested that Daniel Sturridge could be on his way out of Liverpool this summer with Jurgen Klopp believed to be lining up a replacement for the England star.

Rushing to push him out of Klopp’s plans would be pointless at this stage of the season given the difficult period the Reds have endured as of late. We need every one playing with the right mindset.

The Mirror has reported: “Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will sell Daniel Sturridge in the summer after becoming frustrated with the striker’s injury record. The Reds chief believes the end of the season is the right time to let Sturridge go and bring in more attacking power.”

To see a man with his talent suffer so many setbacks is frankly gutting.

For all the criticism he received for his performance in Wednesday’s EFL Cup defeat to Southampton, it’s worth noting that he hasn’t played a whole lot of football this season and certainly not on a regular basis anyway.

It wouldn’t yet be fair to question whether he is still capable of producing his best but the fear is that it never will be because of how little he plays.

We are at a point now where we simply want to see him enjoying his football and playing somewhere near to his best again, no matter what club he is at. Of course, we’d love that to be at Liverpool.
