How Liverpool are getting Sadio Mane back for Chelsea clash

Sadio Mane was inconsolable after his penalty miss confirmed Senegal lost to Cameroon in the AFCON quarterfinal shootout, but he’ll need to brush himself down and get his head right – because he could be playing tomorrow…

Senegal’s defeat was on Saturday evening, but Liverpool have chartered a private jet to get the African back to Merseyside in time for our crunch Premier League clash with Chelsea on Tuesday.

That’s according to Paul Joyce of the Times, who suggests the 24-year-old will start on the bench at Anfield.

In Mane’s absence, Liverpool have been woeful, in short. We’ve won once in eight matches and that was against Plymouth in an FA Cup replay.

Our failure has not been solely because he’s not been available, but it’s certainly played a part as we’ve lacked pace and dynamism out wide.

We can’t see Jurgen Klopp starting Mane against Chelsea (although we’d like to see him get the first 45 rather than the second), but it’d be fantastic to see our flyer back involved in any way possible.

We really can’t afford to lose four consecutive games at Anfield…
