Gini Wijnaldum on Liverpool’s funniest player and the most likely future manager

Two completely contrasting topics but albeit interesting ones.

Speaking about his teammates with Dugout, Gini Wijnaldum has outlined Liverpool’s funniest member of the squad as well as the man he feels will one day go on to become a manager.

He said: “Sadio Mane definitely, because he’s funny. He’s chilled, relaxed – he sees everything relaxed and isn’t bothered by things. That’s how it looks.”

As for the future manager, he added: “Hendo, maybe. I think he can be, the way he treats people now and the team – the way he arranges thing.”

Personalities are what a Jurgen Klopp-led team needs and Wijnaldum’s outlook now makes it no surprise that both Mane and Jordan Henderson have been such influential players for us this season.

Henderson has evolved into a great captain and leader on the pitch, often posing as the unsung hero behind balanced, solid and ruthless Liverpool performances.

He sets the bar in terms of work rate and the manner in which to approach games and it’s for the way he goes about football that gives him a strong chance of moving into coaching further down the line.

As for Mane, his coolness is personified by the way he goes about the game. For a man with his explosive pace and movement and for such an energetic and obvious presence on the pitch, he always looks so calm, composed and as though he is in control of every incident he is involved with.

Both are leaders within the squad in their own unique form.
