The debate continues over where the ‘world class’ tag should be applied and where it shouldn’t or more precisely who it should be applied to.
Premier League legend Frank Lampard seemingly deems Philippe Coutinho as good enough to be subject to such praise, turning a focus towards the Brazilian following his recent performances.
“He’s a top player and you could see that from the moment he came to the Premier League, he had good feet but you wondered whether he would be a bit lightweight, that was the only question mark,” said the former Chelsea midfielder on Goals on Sunday, as cited by the Liverpool Echo.
“But from then on he’s gone from strength to strength. He creates goals and he’s gone into that top bracket now, and some big, big clubs in Europe wanted him, but he’s just signed a new contract with Liverpool, and it was very important he did that because he’s a big player for them.”
