John Barnes- the unique factor that gives Klopp advantage in transfer window

Rarely have a group of fans taken to a manager and his specific ideologies as quickly and as smoothly as Liverpool supporters have with Jurgen Klopp.

There is a sense of understanding and a respect for every decision he makes, regardless of whether or not it abides by the norm and no matter how unconventional it is. Such a relationship grants Klopp the freedom to exercise the same methods he has always used without being criticised when it comes to transfer business.

It is no secret that he refuses to be drawn to players simply because of their stature and their name. Instead, he turns his attention to those he feels he can help develop into stars. His lack of activity in the January window sparked debate amongst Reds yet summer signings Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum have justified the big fees paid for their services which is why we can continue to trust every move Klopp makes in the market.

Liverpool legend John Barnes has touched on why the German has an advantage over other Premier League managers.

“The good thing about Jurgen Klopp which is different to any other top five team is that if he signs a player that no one’s heard of, no matter where he’s from, he could sign a German player no one’s heard and the fans will still be positive,” he told the Express.

“The fans will still trust him to know that he can implement the style and get the best out of that player.”

“In the past, not necessarily Liverpool but a lot of big clubs, if they sign players for £5m or £10m that aren’t household names then fans get disappointed and say we’re lacking ambition but because they trust Jurgen Klopp so much no matter who he signs people will be positive he can get the best out of them.”

Klopp will have the spending power this summer with Liverpool’s Fenway Sports Group owners set to hand him the largest transfer kitty in the club’s history.

Everyone associated with the club, evidently the owners included, realise this is the time to take the measures required to help Liverpool once again compete with the Premier League’s top sides as well as Europe’s elite. This team’s emphatic start to the season with a squad short on strength in depth demonstrated how the addition of several new faces could make Liverpool serious title challengers again.
