Liverpool sensation named in PFA Premier League Team of the Year

The decision to announce the Premier League’s best eleven well before the season has finished is usually highly-debated but we will let it slide this time.

Liverpool’s Sadio Mane been named in the PFA Team of the Year, as announced on Liverpoolfc.com, posing as recognition of his outstanding campaign since arriving on Merseyside last summer.

The Senegalese forward has scored 13 goals and made five assists in 27 Premier League games and is still the club’s top scorer despite having missed around a month of football as a result of his participation in the African Cup of Nations towards the beginning of 2017.

His season was also recently, not to mention cruelly, cut short when he picked up a knee injury in the 3-1 Merseyside derby win over Everton.

Mane has been instrumental in implementing the explosive attacking football that has seen Liverpool emerge as serious top four contenders throughout the season. His pace, power and athleticism has seen him add a fresh dimension and become an influential figure in Jurgen Klopp’s setup.

Congratulations, Sadio. Come back even stronger next season.

The PFA Premier League Team of the Year: David de Gea (Manchester United); Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), David Luiz, Gary Cahill (both Chelsea), Danny Rose (Tottenham); N’Golo Kante (Chelsea), Dele Alli (Tottenham), Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Sadio Mane (Liverpool); Harry Kane (Tottenham), Romelu Lukaku (Everton).
