LFC fans: there’s some mighty sad news RE Daniel Sturridge ?

There was a point when Daniel Sturridge was righty regarded as perhaps the best natural finisher in the Premier League, but his Liverpool career is petering out to nothingness.

The striker picked up yet another recurrence of his hip injury before the weekend defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield, and the Guardian is reporting that he’s likely to miss the remainder of the campaign as a result.

This season has been a nightmare for Sturridge. He began it on the bench, has picked up niggling injuries throughout and even when fit, has been named as a substitute by Jurgen Klopp, a manager who’s clearly run out of patience with him.

In fact, the Englishman has started just five Premier League matches and is an absolute certainty to depart this summer, even if the club won’t openly admit it yet.

The question now is who will pay serious money for a 27-year-old whose body lets him down time and time again.

Many Premier League teams will be interested, but his large wages and our likely large asking price will cause problems.

Under Klopp, Sturridge sadly has no future. As Liverpool fans, it’s our job to remember how brilliant he was at his best and forgive the past three seasons on his terrible injury record.
