Unbelievable story about Danny Ings’s rehab surfaces; Klopp ‘blown away’

Danny Ings simply won’t lie down, or accept that his Liverpool career is over.

The English forward suffered a devastating knee injury at the beginning of this campaign which ruled him out for the season, having ruptured his ACL the year before – missing his first term at Liverpool as well.

Since joining nearly two seasons ago, Ings has made just 11 appearances in all competitions.

He would be forgiven for feeling sorry for himself, in short. After all, he’s 24-years-old and has had two of his prime years taken away from him, but Ings’s attitude in the treatment room has been second to none.

According to the Echo, Ings set himself a target of swimming 21 miles during rehab, which is the equivalent of the English channel. In just four months, the forward has completed 1,700 lengths of the Melwood pool – even more outrageous considering he’s only been able to use his upper body.

Their report suggests that Ings’ rehab work has ‘blown Jurgen Klopp away’. As a result of his dedication, Ings is ahead of schedule and Klopp expects the forward to be part of his first-team squad next year.

If he eventually makes a success of his stint at Liverpool, it will be one of the best individual comeback stories in our history.
