Klopp issues positive assessment of Liverpool’s power in the transfer market

Jurgen Klopp has assured that Liverpool will be capable of attracting quality players in this summer’s transfer window even if the club does not qualify for the Champions League.

A win in Sunday’s game against Middlesbrough will be enough for the Reds to secure a place in Europe’s elite competition but Klopp feels the prospect of doing so shouldn’t be what primarily attracts players to Anfield.

The German claims it is his side’s style of play and the direction it is heading in that has impressed transfer targets.

“Everyone can see from outside. The mood is different, a few people are different, but the base is there. It is still the power and size of this club and then the perspective and that has changed. We feel it in the talks,” he told the Telegraph.

“They have to see it, they have to feel it and they have to make a decision. The players are really positive this year compared to last year because they have seen our way, our football and that is good.”

“The Champions League would be the icing on the cake but that’s it not more. It should not sound negative but if Champions League is the only reason why a player is coming it makes no sense for him or for us.”

There is once again the feeling that Liverpool are on the rise and close to mounting a serious Premier League title challenge as well as being capable of competing with Europe’s top teams.

Klopp will have the spending power to bolster an already exciting squad with Liverpool’s Fenway Sports Group owners set to hand him the largest transfer budget in the club’s history.

The next few months, including Sunday’s game, promise to be defining in the former Borussia Dortmund man’s Anfield career.
