Post-season? Pre-season? Call it what you will, Liverpool’s trip to Australia and friendly against Sydney FC promises to be a great way to celebrate the club recently securing a top four finish in the Premier League.

The coming together of Liverpool legends, youth stars and first team regulars makes it an exciting way to top off what was a physically and mentally gruelling campaign.

It is a relaxed occasion for the players as much as it is a treat for the fans with Jurgen Klopp touching on the positive mood even despite a quick turnaround.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m already really looking forward to how they react now.”

“We go in the stadium and 80,000 Liverpool supporters are there and they are the first who can really celebrate the good season with us.”

“Let’s do it together with all these quality players plus legends – a few of them can play because after the last game and the flight we will see how we can line up.”

“It will be nice even though it’s quite intense because it could have been worse, we could have used bicycles to get over!”

“It’s all good, it feels good, the mood is good.”

Both Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher will feature in Sydney as Klopp’s men celebrate securing an opportunity to play in next season’s Champions League.

Though the game promises to be played a relaxed tempo, it could prove to be one of the final times a number of Reds wear the Liverpool shirt, thereby giving fans all the more reason to take note.

Football so soon after the season has ended? We aren’t complaining one bit.
