Alexander-Arnold- the boyhood dream I can now tick off my list

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s season is sure to have been responsible for a city of incredibly proud and admittedly envious young Liverpool fans.

Not only has the teenager made a name for himself for the club’s senior side, but he has also now had the chance to fulfil a boyhood dream he feared would never come true.

A post-season friendly in Australia against Sydney FC celebrated the club’s 125th anniversary and also played stage to a moment the Liverpool starlet will undoubtedly remember for the rest of his career- a chance to play alongside Steven Gerrard.

“As a kid I always said that my dream was to play in a game with Stevie,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“I thought that chance had passed to be honest, especially with him retiring last year.”

“I know it wasn’t a competitive game but I’ll take it anyway. It was brilliant to have him as a team-mate and I’ll tick that one off my list.”

“That iconic pass Stevie does- I used to watch that week in week out. To be on the receiving end of a couple of those was a privilege.”

“Every kid growing up in Liverpool tried to emulate that kind of Steven Gerrard pass.”

Seeing the youngster link up with the Anfield legend was a joy to behold for fans knowing exactly what a special moment it was the full-back.

His subsequent delight to have played with his childhood hero poses as another refreshing sign of what a great asset his passion and mentality is to this club. It just so happens that he is also an exceptional talent with the ball at his feet.
