The Anfield surface has played stage to countless special moments, memorable goals and some scintillating football over the last decade or so but now looks set to undergo a complete makeover.
Preparations for changes to the stadium are underway, starting with the resurfacing of the Anfield turf for the first time in 16 years.
It comes as long overdue work on the ground and, in a way, something new to be excited about in terms of seeing Jurgen Klopp’s men fizzing the ball across a fresh pitch next season.

It marks the beginning of proposed building work with the club also set to add a further 470 seats to the Kop as well as improving provisions for disabled supporters by increasing the number of wheelchair bays from 195 to over 250.
1000 seats are expected to be moved in order to meet the requirements set by the Accessible Stadia Guide, meaning some season ticket holders will be moved elsewhere but not so that the 54,000 capacity will be reduced.
The planning application, as reported by the Liverpool Echo in March, explains: “An increase in the seating area of the Kop Stand comprising two ‘in fill’ additions at the rear of both sides of the stand creating 470 additional seats.”
“LFC’s owners wish the expansion of the Kop terrace at high level to be as unobtrusive as possible, to ensure that the expanded elements of the stand ‘look at though they have always been there’.”
