Rafa Benitez wants to sign Liverpool’s forgotten man for Newcastle

During Jurgen Klopp’s debut season, the German used teenage winger Sheyi Ojo on a regular basis, but the Englishman endured a very underwhelming 2017/18, failing to make a single Premier League appearance.

Ojo turns 20 next month, meaning it’s undeniably time he plays regular first-team football.

The Newcastle Chronicle states that Rafa Benitez has included our youngster on his shortlist ahead of what’s going to be a big transfer window for the Magpies.

They do not state whether our former manager wants Ojo permanently or on loan, but we’d suggest a temporary deal is more likely.

For us, a loan move to Newcastle would make perfect sense. He’d hopefully earn significantly more minutes than he would on Merseyside, playing in front of a massive crowd and in the top flight to boot.

Benitez will improve him tactically, something Klopp’s criticised Ojo for in the past – and the winger could finally start fulfilling his serious potential.
